Terms of Use

The NYX Design Awards assumes that every entry is original and that the entrant owns the submitted work or has permission from the client, employer, creator or other appropriate rights holder to enter it and grant the permissions described below.

An entrant who submits work without the necessary ownership, authority or permission may be disqualified. The NYX Design Awards and International Awards Associate Inc. (IAA) are not responsible for copyright infringement or other rights violations caused by materials submitted without proper authorisation.

Submitting an entry authorises the NYX Design Awards and IAA to use the entry for judging, exhibition, publication, winner announcements, editorial coverage, marketing, promotion and archival purposes in any appropriate medium. Where the private-entry option is available, the work may remain private when the entrant selects that option or makes an approved written request before publication.

Timely submission of an entry that meets the applicable eligibility and submission requirements, together with successful payment of the stated entry fee, ensures that the entry will be reviewed and considered for recognition. Payment alone does not make an incomplete or ineligible submission eligible for judging.

No representation or warranty is made that an entry will receive recognition. To the fullest extent permitted by law, all implied warranties relating to participation, evaluation or recognition are disclaimed.

The NYX Design Awards includes three recognition pathways: Project Excellence, NYX Designer Honours and NYX Design Team Honours. Entrants must select the pathway that accurately reflects what is being submitted for evaluation and comply with the published requirements for that pathway.

Project Excellence recognises eligible design work entered within a published discipline and category. NYX Designer Honours recognises an eligible individual designer. NYX Design Team Honours recognises an eligible design team, studio, collective, department or other qualifying collaboration.

• Project entries must be submitted as created, published, produced, manufactured, constructed, released or presented, as applicable. Materials must not be altered in a way that misrepresents the work solely for competition purposes.
• Conceptual, future, prototype, unbuilt, student or self-initiated work may be entered only where permitted by the selected category and must be identified accurately.
• The NYX Design Awards may request evidence of the work’s original creation, production, publication, launch, completion or other relevant date.
• A written English translation or adaptation must accompany material necessary for judging that is presented in another language.
• An eligible entry may be submitted to more than one category. Each category is treated as a separate submission, requires the applicable fee and is evaluated independently.
• The NYX Design Awards may re-categorise an incorrectly classified entry or place it in the closest appropriate category.
• The jury may withhold recognition in a category where the submissions do not meet the required standard.
• Entries must comply with the applicable deadlines, technical specifications and supporting-material requirements published on the website and within the entry system.

The entrant is responsible for ensuring that all submitted information, credits, claims and supporting materials are accurate. The role of clients, employers, collaborators, contractors, students and technology must not be misrepresented.

Where generative artificial intelligence materially contributed to the submitted work or its presentation, the entrant must disclose that use when requested or where necessary to understand authorship, originality or project status. AI-generated visualisations must not be presented as photographs of completed or constructed work.

The NYX Design Awards may request sketches, source files, process records, licences, declarations or other supporting information where authorship, originality, eligibility or AI use requires clarification.

The applicable entry fee is the amount displayed at checkout for the selected recognition pathway, category and entry period. An entry is not valid for judging until payment has been completed successfully.

After payment, entrants may continue completing or editing their submissions until the published Final Extension Deadline, unless an earlier restriction is stated for a particular pathway or service. Entrants remain responsible for completing all required information and materials before the applicable deadline.

If payment is declined, reversed, disputed, charged back or otherwise remains unpaid, the NYX Design Awards may suspend or cancel the affected entry, result or winner benefit until the matter is resolved.

Unless otherwise required by applicable law, entry and administrative fees are non-refundable after payment has been completed. Administrative processing and competition services begin after checkout.

Withdrawal, failure to complete an entry, failure to provide accessible materials, missing a deadline, selecting an incorrect category, ineligibility caused by inaccurate information or a decision not to participate does not create an automatic right to a refund. Entries cannot normally be withdrawn after judging has begun.

Eligible submissions are evaluated by appointed jurors or an authorised review panel according to the published framework for the relevant recognition pathway. Project Excellence entries may be judged on a blind basis where practicable. Designer Honours and Design Team Honours involve evaluation of the identified individual or team and are therefore not represented as blind judging.

Participation implies acceptance of the competition rules and the final decision of the jury. The NYX Design Awards may resolve a situation not expressly addressed in these Terms in a manner intended to protect the fairness and integrity of the competition.

The manner, timing and details of announcing nominations, results and awards remain within the discretion of the NYX Design Awards. Entrants understand that all awards may not be given or publicised in the same manner or format.

Entrants retain ownership of the content they submit. To operate the award submission platform and administer, judge and promote the competition, the entrant grants IAA and the NYX Design Awards a non-exclusive, royalty-free, transferable, sublicensable and worldwide licence to host, store, use, reproduce, distribute, modify for formatting or presentation, run, copy, publicly perform, display, translate and create adaptations of submitted content.

This licence applies only for competition administration, judging, verification, winner profiles, official websites, newsletters, social media, exhibitions, publications, publicity, archival records and editorial coverage, including Muse.World. It does not transfer ownership of the submitted content or permit the NYX Design Awards to materially misrepresent the work.

An entrant who wishes to remove content from the submission platform may make a written request by email. Removal from the active platform does not require deletion of judging records, transaction records, published winner records, lawful archives or materials that IAA must retain for legal, administrative or evidentiary purposes.

IAA and the NYX Design Awards are not liable for claims arising from copyright infringement or other rights violations in content uploaded by an entrant. The entrant is responsible for ensuring that all submitted content complies with applicable law and does not infringe the rights of another party.

IAA and the NYX Design Awards are not intellectual-property tribunals and have no obligation to determine the ultimate legal merits of competing ownership or infringement claims. IAA and its designated copyright representative may review the information provided and decide whether to remove, restrict, restore or maintain content while a claim is being addressed.

If an entrant responds to an infringement claim by assuring IAA that the content is not infringing and IAA subsequently restores or maintains the content, the entrant agrees, to the fullest extent permitted by law, to defend and hold harmless IAA, the NYX Design Awards and the designated copyright representative against resulting infringement claims, except to the extent caused by their own unlawful conduct, fraud or negligence.

The NYX Design Awards may reject, remove or disqualify an entry, or revoke recognition, where the entry is ineligible, inaccurate, misleading, unauthorised, infringing, fraudulent, improperly influenced, unpaid or otherwise in material breach of these Terms or the published entry requirements. Where appropriate, the entrant may be asked to provide clarification before a final decision is made.

This section applies only when a verified winner purchases merchandise through the official NYX Design Awards store. It does not govern the entry fee paid to participate in the competition.

IAA takes reasonable care to process orders promptly and to maintain appropriate quality standards. Product appearance, personalisation, production and delivery remain subject to the order information displayed at checkout and reasonable variations arising from manufacturing, materials, screens, photography and fulfilment.

Unless otherwise required by applicable law, merchandise refunds will not be issued after an order has been received except where an item is damaged, defective, incorrect or missing from the shipment. A denial of purchase, incorrect order placement, change of mind or request to exchange returned personalised merchandise does not automatically qualify for a refund.

A damaged, defective, incorrect or missing item should be reported promptly to info@nyxdesignawards.com. The awards team may request photographs, packaging information, proof of delivery or other evidence needed to review the concern. Any refund, replacement or other resolution will be determined after review, subject to applicable consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Personal information is handled according to the NYX Design Awards Privacy Policy. Cookies and similar technologies are addressed separately in the Cookie Policy.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, IAA and the NYX Design Awards are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential or special loss arising from participation, judging outcomes, publication, technical interruption or third-party services. Their total aggregate liability arising from an affected paid entry will not exceed the amount actually paid for that entry.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for fraud, wilful misconduct, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or another liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

IAA may update these Terms to reflect changes in the competition, technology, services or applicable requirements. The version accepted when payment is completed will ordinarily govern that paid entry.

These Terms are governed by the laws of Malaysia. Subject to any mandatory rights available under applicable law, the courts of Malaysia have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes relating to these Terms or participation in the NYX Design Awards.
